Les Bartley was born in Hull, Yorkshire and immigrated to Canada in the late 1950s. Educated at Queen’s University and Carleton University, he has two degrees in Economics. After a career working in land records and as an IT consultant, he retired to spend more time as an artist.
Initially working in water colour, Les began working with acrylics on board in the early 1980s. He prefers to paint landscapes in a fairly realistic, detailed style. His scenes are often set in the late fall, featuring fields of ripe grain.
